New York

New York allows you to reduce your driving record by 4 points. You can also receive a 10% reduction in the rate of your insurance for 3 years. Improv Traffic School will notify the DMV within 10 weeks after you complete the course, and the DMV will automatically reduce your points.

California

California has a point system for violations, and if you get 4 points in 1 year, 6 points in 2 years, or 8 points in three years, the DMV will suspend your license.

The clerk can authorize traffic school if you are a licensed driver who has been reported to the DMV. A one-time extension can be granted.

A certificate of completion must be submitted to the court. This is your responsibility. Upon successful completion of the Traffic Violator Course, the provider must issue students a receipt for fees paid and a certificate of completion.

Florida

Drivers in Florida can attend traffic school to reduce the points on their record. Florida has a three-tiered point limit system. If you accrue 12 points within 12 months, your license will be suspended for 30 days. 18 points within 18 months results in a 2 month suspension, while 24 points within a 36 month period will result in a 12 month suspension. Within thirty days from the time you received the traffic citation and before attending traffic school, you must pay an election fee to the Clerk of Court that you received the citation and inform the relevant Clerk of the Court that you want to go to traffic school. Make sure you contact the court of the county where you got the citation.

New Jersey

New Jersey will remove 2 points from your license if you attend a state approved New Jersey defensive driving courses. An insurance rate reduction is also possible, so please contact your insurance company for more information.

Texas

Texas drivers can reduce points on their license and help lower insurance premiums by taking a class. Texas confers a surcharge to drivers with 6 or more points on their licenses. Failure to pay the surcharge within 30 days of notice will result in a suspension of the license. Check with your insurance provider for more information.

Arizona

When you are convicted of a moving traffic violation in Arizona, you will be assessed a certain number of points. You may have your driving privileges suspended, if you get more than 8 points in any 12 month period. If you do not complete Traffic Survival School when you are ordered to do so, your driving privileges will be suspended.

Georgia

Georgia traffic violations works on a point system. Each time you have a traffic violation, you will be reported. If you end up with more than 15 points in 2 years, your license can get suspended. The courts will potentially remove points from your record if you enroll in a traffic school program.

Idaho

Drivers in Idaho receive records for any moving violations they receive on a point system. Points are maintained for three years. When a driver gets 8-11 points in 12 months, 14-17 points in 24 months, or 2-23 points in 36 months, they can potentially have their license suspended. Drivers may reduce their points by 3 if they complete a driving course.

Nevada

Drivers in Nevada can attend traffic school to reduce the number of points on their driving record. Sometimes they can also take these courses as part of a plea bargain with the court. Only one course is permitted within a 1-year period. When you complete the course, the school must contact the DMV directly.
