Drivers in Florida can attend traffic school to reduce the points on their record. Florida has a three-tiered point limit system. If you accrue 12 points within 12 months, your license will be suspended for 30 days. 18 points within 18 months results in a 2 month suspension, while 24 points within a 36 month period will result in a 12 month suspension. Within thirty days from the time you received the traffic citation and before attending traffic school, you must pay an election fee to the Clerk of Court that you received the citation and inform the relevant Clerk of the Court that you want to go to traffic school.
